AUDRA POST, CPM, BSM

Linda and Audra

Linda Healey, CPM

Audra’s midwifery journey started in 2004 when she began taking lessons and completed the midwifery program  through Michigan School of Traditional Midwifery.  From there, she began apprenticing and was hired as a midwife at the Greenhouse Birth Center. In 2010 she obtained her credential as a Certified Professional Midwife. She served at the birth center until it closed in 2012. At that time, she opened a homebirth practice Harmonious World Midwifery, serving the greater Lansing community until joining Birth Alternatives in 2016.

In 2015, Audra earned her Bachelor's of Science in Midwifery (BSM) from Midwives College of Utah. With great honor, she was later hired by MCU as an instructor, where she continues to teach a diverse group of future midwives.

Audra’s family is a great support to her practice of midwifery. She is blessed with a loving husband, two step children, and a beautiful array of extended family. Their loving support allows her to serve midwifery with the same acts of loving compassion.

“Birth, and the transformation into parenting is awe-inspiring, unique, and humbling process.” As a facilitating witness, Audra is honored to have served over 300 families, who she holds with loving credit in shaping her continued quest for knowledge.

Linda Healey is a certified professional midwife, and the founder of Birth Alternatives Midwifery. She is the mother of three grown children, one born at home. Linda is also the grandmother of 6, three of whose births she attended at home.

Mothering has shaped Linda's midwifery philosophy. Her experiences with breastfeeding, home schooling and raising her children guided who she became as a midwife. She brings those experiences, and the knowledge gained in attending more than 1,000 births, to every family she works with.

Linda enjoys gardening, and she and her husband Tim have taught nutrition seminars and natural remedies workshops.

Trained as an apprentice by Helen Jolly, Linda is a 1982 graduate of the North Texas School of Midwifery. She is certified as a childbirth instructor by ALACE, and is a certified midwife with the Michigan Midwives Association. Her CPM credential comes through the North American Registry of Midwives, sponsored by the Midwives Alliance of North America.

Linda credits each mother and baby she has attended with teaching her the deeper mysteries of birth and life, which no textbook can define.
