Linda Healey is a certified professional midwife, and the owner of Birth Alternatives Midwifery. She is the mother of three grown children, one homeborn. Linda is also the grandmother of four active boys, two of whose births she attended at home.
Mothering has shaped Linda's midwifery philosophy. Her experiences with breastfeeding, home schooling and raising her children guided who she became as a midwife. She brings those experiences, and the knowledge gained in attending more than 1,000 births, to every family she works with.
Linda enjoys gardening, and she and her husband Tim have taught nutrition seminars and natural remedies workshops.
Trained as an apprentice by Helen Jolly, Linda is a 1982 graduate of the North Texas School of Midwifery. She is certified as a childbirth instructor by ALACE, and is a certified midwife with the Michigan Midwives Association. Her CPM credential comes through the North American Registry of Midwives, sponsored by the Midwives Alliance of North America.
Linda credits each mother and baby she has attended with teaching her the deeper mysteries of birth and life, which no textbook can define.
